Project Planning – Planning, researching, and composing technical documents
(as a lifecycle process) in teams and individually
The process of project planning was integral in the development of this initiative, particularly through the research required for composing a formal complaint letter. It is crucial to investigate not only the specific issue at hand but also the recipient of the letter. This understanding enables us to ascertain whether the individual or entity we are addressing has encountered similar concerns in the past and whether they are open to addressing these complaints and effecting resolution. Planning can occur either individually or collaboratively; in this case, it was carried out as a team effort. Facilitating peer feedback is essential for us as writers, as this collaboration aids in creating the most effective complaint letter possible. Furthermore, we must consider the recipient of the letter, the severity of the issue, the timing of the occurrence, the location of the issue, and the rationale behind the complaint.
Project Analysis Identifying – a document’s readers and a document’s context
relative to practices of composing for specific global,
diverse, and multicultural audiences. Understanding how
technical documents occupy and respond to social justice
and community service contexts
Through this learning outcome, I gained insight into the significance of fostering inclusivity within a company or organization, as well as the appropriate methods for addressing complaints and responding to individuals who have submitted them. Engaging with global audiences necessitates thorough research to discern culturally appropriate content and identify anything that may be considered offensive. Understanding the normative behaviors of a specific audience is vital in order to prevent negative reactions to publicly displayed materials. Effectively formulating a complaint or crafting a response requires familiarity with the proper professional writing format.
Content Development – Understanding how genre conventions impact writing.
Using contextual information to place specialized
information into the appropriate genre
The development of content proved to be an essential skill that enhanced my understanding of genre conventions and played a critical role in this course. Each project demanded a specific type of document, each accompanied by its own structural requirements. In drafting the complaint and response letters, I followed the standard format for professional business communication, which involved the inclusion of headings, salutations, and clear, succinct explanations of the issues being addressed.
Organizational Design
Practicing strong research skills with primary and secondary
sources to generate appropriate content. Generating strong
research questions and developing clear research practices
I acquired the skills necessary to produce a carefully crafted instructional video aimed at educating my specific audience on how to master a hairstyle that may often appear challenging to them. My research into common difficulties associated with this particular style involved examining discussions in community forums and comment sections on platforms such as YouTube and Reddit. Additionally, my professional experience as a hairstylist has provided me with insights into recurring issues that clients encounter when attempting to achieve this hairstyle. After gathering this information, I developed a straightforward video that guides viewers through the process. Prior to the video production, I devised a comprehensive plan that included drafting an outline followed by composing the final script for the video.
Written Communication
Composing clear, stylistically responsible prose that avoids
errors and pays attention audience needs
For written communication I wanted to implement english subtitles so more people had access to learn about the video I was offering. I decided to chose a voice over theme so it was easy to listen to the video while watching the tutorial. I was able to learn how to communicate with my audience in a way that was informative and simple. The key was to use terms that were easy to understand and have a friendly tone.
Visual Communication
Using visual design principles to develop audience-friendly
data displays, including charts, tables, infographics, line
graphics, and presentations
I discovered that providing a clear visual presentation in my videos is crucial for ensuring that my audience comprehends the central message of the content. To enhance their understanding, I included text boxes to allow my audience to read the instructions displayed in the video while simultaneously listening to the audio.
Reviewing and Editing
Across media and contexts, ensuring final clear style, user-
centered writing, and error-free spelling and mechanics
This ability has provided me with valuable insights into effectively assembling media for my target audience. I ensured that I reviewed my writing multiple times and sought feedback from others to confirm that my message was conveyed clearly. Additionally, I took care to align my tone and writing style with the preferences of my audience.
Content Management Gaining knowledge of the organization and management of
digital and textual information and receive an introduction
to information architecture, web content management, and
social networking.
I took the necessary steps to thoroughly investigate the Senate curriculum committee to guarantee that the information I included in the presentation was consistent with their perspectives on exemplary general education standards. I reviewed their criteria regarding the approval process for courses to be added to the course catalog.
Production and Delivery
In the realm of production and delivery, it is essential to cultivate confidence while conveying information through diverse formats, which include web-based content, printed material, oral presentations, and video. It is important to understand the optimal delivery principles to ensure that one’s work can be effectively integrated into emerging technologies. While presenting my proposal in a video format, I was mindful to maintain a confident and professional tone. To be persuasive, it is crucial for an individual to possess comprehensive knowledge of the subject matter and to genuinely believe in their proposition. I consciously aimed to convey the seriousness of my proposal to ensure that my perspective would be regarded with the appropriate gravity.
